A journalist gave the idea of Kalka-Shimla Train

Here is an untold story of the Indian Heritage Train of Shimla.
Ajay Mohan
In 1864, Shimla became the summer capital of British India, and was the headquarters of the Indian army.
Every summer the top officials of the British government used to settle in the valleys of Shimla.
Now how can the government run without papers?
This meant that twice a year it was necessary to transfer the entire government between Calcutta and Shimla.
This made possible with the help of horse and ox drawn carts.
This happened for many years. And then British started working on the idea of the journalist of the Delhi Gazette which he had given in 1847.
On 20 April 1855, the construction of Shimla-Kalka rail route started and by 1891 the rail-route was ready till Kalka.
The first train ran from Kalka to Shimla on 9 November 1903, which was flagged off by the then Viceroy Lord Curzon.
Today this train is included in UNESCO's India World Heritage.
