Here is the list of Nawabs who ruled Lucknow formerly known as Awadh
Deepika Joshi
From 1732 to 1856, the Nawabs of Lucknow ruled the kingdom of Awadh. They were descended from Saadat Ali Khan, a Persian explorer who served the Mughals.
Asaf-ud-Daulah
He is recognized as Lucknow's greatest architect and is best known for building the Bara Imambara, where he is buried. He reigned between 1775 to 1797.
Yamin-ud-Daulah
In 1798, Yamin-ud-Daulah ascended to the throne. He constructed Dilkhusha Kothi, as well as numerous other structures in Qaiserbagh. 1814 marked the end of his reign.
Ghazi-ud-din Haider
Ghazi-ud-din Haider, the third son of Yamin-ud-Daulah, ascended to the throne in 1814. He renovated the Moti Mahal and constructed the Chattar Manzil.
Nasir-ud-din Haider
In 1827, he succeeded his father Ghazi-ud-din Haider as king. He is most known for establishing an observatory in Lucknow that was outfitted with latest instruments.
Muhammad Ali Shah
Muhammad Ali Shah constructed the Chhota Imambara, Husainabad Baradari, and Satkhanda. From 1837 to 1842, he ruled.
Amjad Ali Shah
In 1842, he took over for his father, Muhammad Ali Shah, and ruled until 1847. He is best known for constructing Hazratganj, the Gomti Bridge, Aminabad Bazaar, and the first metalled road to Kanpur.
Wajid Ali Shah
Wajid Ali Shah succeeded to the throne in 1847 and is remembered as the last Nawab of Awadh before his annexation by the British.
Finally, the British took occupied Awadh in 1856. Wajid Ali Shah was exiled to Kolkatta, where he died in 1887.
