The Naida Caves, one of Diu's most underrated tourist sites, is a photographer's and explorer's dream come true.
The caves, which are beyond the Diu fort, are a must-see because of its intricate network of tunnels and sizable step-like structures.
It is thought that during their dominance over Diu, the Portuguese cut apart pieces of a massive granite formation for use in building. This is how the caves eventually took shape.
The caves were formed over a long period of time as a result of geological abnormalities and processes, according to research.
According to local lore, the Portuguese were insistent on staying in Diu during the 20th century. There were a number of soldiers stationed at the Naida caves when Operation Vijay was started by the Indian Army to seize control.
These caves are even more appealing because of a natural entrance that lets sunlight inside.
