Bihu is a set of three festivals celebrated in the Indian state of Assam.
The three Bihu festivals are Rongali or Bohag Bihu (celebrated in April), Kongali or Kati Bihu (celebrated in October), and Bhogali or Magh Bihu (celebrated in January).
Rongali Bihu is the most important of the three and is celebrated to mark the beginning of the Assamese New Year.
Kongali Bihu is a more somber festival that marks the end of the agricultural season.
Bhogali Bihu is a festival of feasting and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. People prepare traditional delicacies such as pitha, laru, and xandoh (a type of sweet made from black gram and jaggery).
