Naga Heritage Village- at Kisama in- Nagaland
Here is the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama in Nagaland, India. And it is here the annual Hornbill festival of Nagaland takes place.
Situated about 10 kilometers from Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland, the Naga Heritage Village offers the panorama of Nagaland's tribal heritage and culture. The heritage village aims to protect and preserve all ethnic cultural heritages by offering a common platform.
The village also acts as a cultural showcase, which upholds and sustains the diverse, customs and traditions of all the ethnic tribes of Nagaland. One can see the cluster of 16 traditional houses of each tribe built in typical architectural styles. These traditional houses are known as morung or youth dormitory.
Organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture departments of Nagaland, Hornbill Festival is held annually in the first week of December. The festival is a celebration of the unique cultural tradition of Naga tribes. The festival is also a platform for showcasing the cultural and artistic expressions of the tribal communities in the northeastern region of India.
