Parnera is a census town in the district of Valsad. Located close to the town is the the Parnera Hills, which is a popular hill station close to Valsad. Every year during the month of October, a carnival is organized atop the hill.
Present atop the hill is Mount Parnera, a fort which is believed to have belonged to the founder of the Maratha Empire - Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji was always well known for his forts and was believed to have owned as many as 300 forts by the time of his death.
Dandi is a small village located close to the city of Navsari in Gujarat. It is that historic city which is famous for the Salt Satyagraha or the Dandi March by Mahatma Gandhi. In the year 1930, Gandhi along with his followers marched to Dandi from Ahmedabad, in protest against the imposition of tax on salt.
Sanjan is a little town in Valsad district and an important Parsi settlement in India. The town of Sanjan is said to have been found by Zoroastrian refugees who came down to Gujarat in India when they we compelled to flee Iran.
The present-day Parsis are believed to be the descendents of Zoroastrians. At Sanjan, one can find the Sanjan Memorial Column which was constructed in the year 1917 as a mark of remembrance of the arrival of Parsis (Zoroastrians) in India.
To ascertain proof of the existence of Zoroastrians in Sanjan, excavation works by experts have been on at the town since 2002.
