Yelagiri is a hill station which is still progressing to be a popular destination under Tamil Nadu tourism. It is located in Vellore district near Krishnagiri; around 167km from Bangalore.
Yelagiri is full of green valleys, it is surrounded by Swamimalai hills, Javadi hills and Palamathi hills. Swamimalai hills is known for trekking and adventure sports.
There has been developments to make it one of the famous hill stations in Tamil Nadu. In recent years, adventure activities like paragliding, trekking and rock climbing have been a major attractions.
Yelagiri is ideal for a weekend trip from Bangalore and Chennai. It is little far from Chennai (230km) when compared to Bangalore. One can go there to spend some quality time with family.
There are not many places to visit, tourists can cover all the places in a day; or spend good time in some resort, as there are many resorts in Yelagiri.
The main places of attractions are Punganoor Lake and Park, Nature Park, Murugan Temple, Shiva Temple, Swamimalai hills and Adventure camp.
One can also visit Vellore (90km) or drive towards Mahabalipuram (230km) from Yelagiri. However, the hill station is ideal for weekend getaways and has a pleasant climate from October to January.

The route from Bangalore to Yelagiri: Electronic city, Attibele, Hosur Road, AH43 via Krishnagiri to Yelagiri. The highway is pretty good and can be reachedwithin 3 hours from Bangalore.

Punganoor Lake and Park
Punganoor Lake is a major attraction in Yelagiri. It is almost in the centre of the hill station and tourists have to pay an entrance fee to enter the park and a separate pay for boating.

Boating in Punganoor Lake
Tourists can go on a boat ride in Punganoor Lake and the fee for boating is 50 Rs. One can also try pedal boating in the lake.

Murugan Temple
Murugan (Subramanya) Temple is one of the main attractions in Yelagiri. The temple will be open from 9 am to 6 pm.

Nature Park
Nature Park is very near to Punganoor lake; the musical fountain show will be there in the evening by 7. A separate entrance fee is there for the park and the musical fountain show inside.

Shiva Temple
Shiva Temple is just around 5km from Punganoor Lake. The temple is only open of fridays, only the main sanctum will be closed.

Srilakshmi Golden Temple
Tourists can visit Vellore which is 90km from Yelagiri. Vellore has places like Vellore Fort, Jalagandeeswara temple, Golden Temple, Ratnagiri Murugan Temple, etc.
