One of Kashmir's oldest temples is Amarnath Temple. It is surrounded by snow-covered Kashmir's alpine area, glaciers, and snowy mountains. A holy journey to this Amarnath Tempe is known as the 'Amarnath Yatra'. Every year in July and August, thousands of tourists travel to the Amarnath Temple during the Amarnath Yatra.

The temple is well-known for its "Shiva-Lingam," a naturally occurring ice creation that is said to wax & wane following the phases of the moon. In the month of Sawan, the "Yatra" to Amarnath, one of the main Hindu Dhams, begins in Chandanwari, km from Pahalgam.

Avantipur Temple, Avantipur:

A Hindu temple called the Avantiswami Temple is situated on the Jhelum River's banks 28 kilometres from Srinagar. It is thought to have been built between 855 and 883 AD by King Avantivarman. He had a strong devotion to Lord Surya.

Two further little temples were planned and built in addition to this one. The other was dedicated to the Avantiswami Temple, whereas the other was to Lord Shiva. The main temple, which reflects a showcase of Greek architecture, is well-known for the beauty it displays and the excellent carvings present here.

Raghunath Temple, Jammu:

The Raghunath Temple in Jammu is a revered temple dedicated to lord Rama, the 8th incarnation of Vishnu, and is believed to be the protector of the Dogra people there. Raghunath Temple is a compound of numerous separate temples. The collection of temples in the neighborhood is devoted to the deities mentioned in the epic Ramayana.

One of the most intricate temples in North India, the temple is made up of 7 shrines, each with its own tower. It took roughly 25 years to complete this marvelous temple complex. Maharaja Gulab Singh and his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh were the principal designers of this temple.

Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar:

Shankaracharya Temple is one of the oldest temples, having been constructed in 371 B.C. In honour of the great Indian saint Adi Shankaracharya, who once travelled to Kashmir, this temple carries his name. Pilgrims also go to this temple when they go for the Amarnath Yatra season.

The shrine, which is housed in a chamber that is shaped like a circle, provides visitors with a stunning perspective of the Kashmir valley, which is home to pristine lakes and the majestic Himalayas.
