The head of the department of environmental science at the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry in Nauni, S.K. Bhardwaj, while speaking at a workshop on climate change held last month stated that Himachal Pradesh's average temperature has risen by 1.5 degrees Celsius over the previous 120 years.

Some forecasts suggest that by the end of this century, temperatures may rise by more than 2 degrees Celsius, signaling a climate emergency. Currently, every government in the world is attempting to keep the temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius, but the results are still unsatisfactory.
