Zakir Husaain Rose Garden, one of the prime attractions of the city beautiful, is one of the Asia's largest gardens with over 1600 species of roses. Spread over 30 acres, the Garden is located in Sector 16. It was created in 1967 and named after India/s former president Zakir hussain.

Apart from a huge variety of roses the garden also has many medicinal plants and trees.

The man made picturesque Sukhna lake is quite popular as a picnic spot amongst locals as well as tourists. Pinjore Gardens present a fascinating display of Mughal architecture and garden scape. Sprawling over an area of 100 acres, it has been laid in seven terraces. The main gate of the garden opens into the highest first terrace from where you can see the water fountains of the garden. This terrace has been designed in Rajasthani-Mughal style and works like a window that opens to a green expanse.

A mini zoo, plants nursery, a Japanese garden, historic palaces and picnic lawns await tourists. Especially at weekends, fountains are switched on and after dusk, lights pick up the beauty of the palaces by night.

The Leisure Valley has come-up as one of the most sought-after picnic spots of Chandigarh. This garden is spread throughout the city, which starts from Rajendra Park in Sector-1 and concludes at the Bougainvillea garden in sector 3.
