By Air: If you are travelling to Chennai by air, then you can take a cab from the airport to Vedanthangal. The Chennai airport is at an approximate distance of 66 km from the bird sanctuary.

By Rail: There are no direct trains available between Chennai and Vedanthangal. However, you can take a train from Chennai to Chengalpattu and from there a taxi to Vedanthangal.

By Road: Situated at a distance of 87 km from Chennai, Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary is easily accessible by road. You can board a bus or hire a taxi directly from Chennai to Vedanthangal.

There are three routes from Chennai to Vedanthangal if you are commuting on your own.

Route 1 - Maduravoyal - Vandalur - Vedanthangal

Route 2 - Maduravoyal - Sriperumbudur - Vedanthangal

Route 3 - Adyar - Kovalam - Vedanthangal

However, the fastest and most comfortable is route 1; while on this route, you can reach your destination within minimum time and catch scenic beauty at Kolavai Lake, watch amazing wildlife at Vandalur Zoo and taste local food at Maduravoyal.
