Once a hunting ground in Alwar, it was marked as a wildlife sanctuary. Later, Sariska National Park was identified for the tiger population and that put it under the 'Project Tiger'. Today, it one of the best wildlife reserves with several species of flora and fauna. It is also the first National Park where Tigers were successfully repopulated. Unfortunately, at one point of time, there were no tigers left in this reserve. So the government relocated a few tigers from Ranthambore. This worked and again new the tiger population increased here.
