Thiruverpu Temple
Thiruverpu Temple is located around 7 km away from Kottayam, on the banks if river Meenachil. The temple is believed to be around 1500 years old, and is an interesting place to visit. The priest of the temple holds a key and an axe while opening the temple doors for the 'pooja'. In case the temple does not open with the keys, the priest has the right to use the axe to break the door.
