Pulicat is located just 54 km from Chennai and is a 1-2 hour drive away. The specialty about this lake is the number of grey pelicans and open-billed storks that it houses. During migratory season, you can witness almost 15,000 flamingos migrating to the lake.

The best time to visit Pulicat Lake is between October to March, when the climate is pleasant, and it is when you can see innumerable migratory species of birds as well.
