Karnataka offers to its spirited a wide variety of trekking oppurtunities throughout the state. Each place has its own history and beauty. Some of these places are abundant in wild life and endangered animals others have a religious touch to them. There are many more attractions that these places have to offer. Ramanagaram

Ramanagaram

Ramanagaram, located nearly 50kms to the southwest of Bangalore, is remembered by all as it was here the Bollywood film Sholay was shot in the 70's. It is presently a major attraction for trekkers and rock climbers. Nature lovers too are drawn here as it houses few endangered birds such as the yellow throated bulbuls and the longbilled vultures. It is also called the Silk City as it has a rich harvest of Silk.

Brahmagiri

Brahmagiri

Brahmagiri is situated 270kms from Bangalore and is the borderline between Karnataka and Kerala. It is located in the Western Ghats and has an altitude of 1608m above the sea level. It takes one deep into the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to various wild animals. The best time to trek through here is between December to February.

Skandagiri

Skandagiri hill, also known as the Kalavara Durga lies about 70 kms from Bangalore and has an elevation of 1,350 metres, is a very popular destination among trekkers. It is a part of the Nandi Hills Rangeof Chikballapur and is said to be a fortress set up by a local king . Local rumours speaks of two unexplored caves in the hill which is believed to lead to some fort.

Savandurga

Savandurga

Savandurga, located 33 kms from Bangalore, constitutes the Billiguda (the white hill) and the Karigudda (the black hill). At an elevation of 1226mt it invites trekkers promising them lots of crevices and folds before one reaches the top. The Veerbhadreshwar Swamy and the Narsimha Swamy temples are located at its foothills.

Madhugiri

Madhugiri

Madhugiri hill is situated 100kms from Bangalore and is a popular trekking detination for both amateurs and professionals alike. At an elevation of 3930 feet the trail is challenging and adventurous. One will come across the Madhugiri Fort built by Hyder Ali, the Sultan of Mysore. Also you can find the ruins of the Gopalakrishna Temple on its peak.

Bheemeshwari located in the Mandya district is 100kms from Bangalore and is fast becoming a destination for adventure and nature tourists. Other than trekking one can indulge in a number of sports activity as rafting, high rope traversing and kayaking to name a few. One can also go fishing here as there are a number of fishing camps here.

Antharagange

Antharagange

Antharagange which is 68kms from Bangalore is a popular destination for trekkers because of its rocky structures and caves. It is strewn with hillocks and caves formed by volcanic rocks and boulders. It also has religious significance as pilgrims flock here to see the perrenial spring and an old temple.

Shivgange

Shivgange derives its name from the Shiva temple which is on top of the hill. Other than being a place of pilgrimage due th the number of temples here it is also a great place to go trekking. It is 60 kms from Bangalore. It is also reffered to as the Dakshina Kashi.

Tadiandamol

Tadiandamol

Tadiandamol, the second highest peak in Karnataka is located in the Western Ghats. It is close to the town of Kakkabe in Coorg district and lies right on the Kerala-Karnataka border. It stands tall at 1748 mts above sea level. Derived from malayalm it means "the biggest mountain". Trekkers can make a halt at the Padi Igguthappa temple, which is regarded by the locals as one of the holiest shrines.

Mullyangiri

Mullyangiri

The Mullyangiri Range lies in the Western Ghats in the Baba Budan Giri. It has an elevation of 1930mts above sea level and is situated 260 kms from Bangalore. On reaching the top trekkers can visit a Shiva Temple. Apart from trekking one can indulge in adventure activities like road biking and mountain biking.
