Situated off the Kerala coast in the Arabian Sea is Lakshadweep, which translates to one lakh islands. The island is considered as the smallest union territory of India which has a tropical group of islands of about 36 islands along with 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks.

Lakshadweep is as stunning as it is isolated. Many parts of the islands have been deliberately kept away from tourism. Out of the 36 islands, only 10 are inhabited, by mostly the fisher folk and out of which only 5 are accessible to tourists.

The islands can only be visited on a pre arranged package trip and everyone, Indian or otherwise requires a special permit to enter and the easiest way to acquire one is by booking a package tour through the government's tour operator SPORTS or booking a hotel that would help you with it. Take a look at some of the best things to do when you are here.
