St. Angelo's Fort, also known as Kannur Fort or Kannur Kotta, is one of the best historical sites of Kerala. The fort was built by Dom Francisco de Almeida who was the first Portuguese Viceroy to India. Though it was later captured by the Dutch, the fort was acquired by the British during their rule in India.
