Located at an elevation of 4170 metres, Sela Pass is one of the highest mountain passes in India and is located in-between the West Kemang and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh. This beautiful pass connects Tawang to the other parts of India.

Settled wonderfully in the Himalayan Range, Sela Pass is certainly a treat to watch and unarguably, a summer retreat for those who desire to escape the heat of the sun during the summer season. The region of Sela Pass is considered sacred amongst Tibetan Buddhists as it is believed that there are around 101 holy lakes in the region.

It is also known to be a site of historical significance, as during the 1962 Sino-Indian war, Param Vir Chakra Awardee and a sepoy of Indian Army, Jaswant Singh Rawat, fought alone with the Chinese soldiers and died here.

By Air: The nearest airport from Sela Pass is at Tezpur, in Assam, at a distance of around 250 km. Once you have reached Tezpur, you can hire a cab to Sela Pass.

By Rail: You can catch a train to Tezpur railway station in Assam and then from there you can hire a cab to Sela Pass. It will take you an approximate time of 5 hours to reach Sela Pass from Tezpur.

By Road: Located at a distance of around 70 km from Tawang, Sela Pass is easily accessible by road. However, at the time of heavy snowfall, certain roads get blocked. Therefore, you need to plan your ways before embarking on a journey to Sela Pass.
