It is generally noted for its bird population. However, you can also find several species of animals and plants within its boundaries. If you are a wildlife photographer, then you must not miss visiting this beautiful expanse.

The major species found here include blackbuck, spotted deer, bottlenose dolphin, spot-billed pelican, spoonbill, lesser flamingo and collared doves. The sanctuary also houses a few heritage sites such as Ramar Padam, Modi Mandapam, Navakodi Sitthar Aalayam and Chola Lighthouse.
