One of the ancient towns in the state of Chhattisgarh, Ratanpur is located in the Bilaspur district and is famous amongst tourists and travellers for its ancient temples and Ratanpur Fort. As per records, this historic town has been in existence since the time of Kalachuris of Ratnapura, who used to rule the region.

According to an inscription found at Ratanpur, it is believed that the town was founded by Ratnaraja, the grandson of Kalinga Raja, who controlled the Dakshina Kosala region. Ratanpur remained the capital of Haihaivanshi Kingdom until it was conquered by the Maratha kings and later on by the British.

Today, Ratanpur is recognised as the town with religious places and historic buildings. Every year, it witnesses tourists and Hindu devotees in thousands, who come here to savour its beauty spread across temples and the fort.

By Air: You can take a direct flight to Raipur Airport which is located at a distance of about 150 km. From the airport, you can hire a cab to Ratanpur. It will take you an approximate time of 4 hours to reach your destination.

By Rail: There are no direct trains available to Ratanpur. However, you can catch a train to Bilaspur Junction, which is located at a distance of around 35 km, and then from there you can take a cab to Ratanpur.

By Road: Ratanpur has a good road network and hence, it is easily approachable by road.
