By Air: The nearest airport to Pulwama is located at Srinagar, which is approximately at a distance of 37 km away from the place. Frequent cab services are available from the airport.

By Rail: The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi railway station located in the Jammu city at a distance of 281 km from the town.

By Road: Pulwama is well connected to other major cities of India via roads. There is a sporadic bus service from the bus terminus, which is located in the heart of the town. Self drive or hiring a vehicle is the best option if you wish to travel by road.

The temple is sanctified to the Hindu mythological deities of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva and was built by Raja Awanti Verma in 9th century A.D. Nestled on the banks of river Jhelum, the Avantishwar Temple is now protected and is under the maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India. With beautifully adorned walls with intricately detailed carvings of ancient myths, folklore and deities, the temple is always busy with tourists and devotees from all around the world and makes for a popular tourist destination in Pulwama.
