Kedarnath Temple is an important pilgrim centre for the Hindu community. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kedarnath Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva! Being the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas, it is also one amongst the four major sites in 'Chota Char Dham' pilgrimage of the Northern Himalayas.
It is not just temples and shrines that Kedarnath is famed for! The scenic locale of Kedarnath proffers an unruffled ambiance with it's snowy peaks, alpine forests and colourful rhodendrons. The scenic lake of Vasuki Tal vouches for an exhilarating trek through the enchanting landscape!

Best time to visit Kedarnath : Best time to visit Kedarnath is from May - October as it is closed from November - April.
How to reach Kedarnath : The nearest airport is at Dehradun which is 239 km away and the nearest railhead in Rishikesh is 221 km away. Kedarnath temple is not directly accessible by road and has to be reached by a 14 kilometres uphill trek from Gaurikund.

Did you know?! Kedarnath was the worst affected area during the 2013 flash floods in North India. The temple complex, surrounding areas and Kedarnath town suffered extensive damage, but the temple structure did not suffer any major damage. A large rock among the debris acted as a barrier, protecting the temple from the flood!
