Well known for the Periyar National Park in the Idukki district, Thekkady is a favourite destination for those who love wildlife and nature. The Periyar National Park is spread across 777 odd sq km, and passes through hills, valleys and also through the deciduous forests.

There is a heavy downpour during the monsoon season, but it is also considered as one of the best times to catch animals who venture out during this time. The most popular attraction in the park is bamboo rafting and night patrolling through the jungle.
