Diwali is a beautiful festival but a noisy one for sure. Many people would prefer a quiet celebration, but it is hard to get during the festival.

Travelling to some calm places, is a better idea to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali. One should find such quiet and beautiful places to escape Diwali. A tour around these picturesque and less crowded destinations lets you enjoy the nature even more.

Pichavaram Mangrove Forest

Pichavaram Mangrove Forest

Pichavaram is the second largest Mangrove forest in the world, after the Sundarbans National Park in West Bengal ( largest).

It is located in Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu; one can take a train from Chennai to Chidambaram or 2- 3 hours journey by road from Pondicherry (around 70km) to reach this ecosystem.

Pichavaram Mangrove Forest is a lesser known destination. A paddle boat ride or a motor boat ride will take the tourists around this forest.

A place so serene with thick forest vegetation and home to a number of birds is an ideal place to have pollution-free Diwali.

November to February is the best time, especially for bird watchers to visit Pichavaram.

These caves are in Jaintia hills, Khasi hills and Garo hills of Meghalaya. Among them, Krem Liat Prah in the Jaintia Hills is considered as the longest ones.

Gandikota

Gandikota

Gandikota is a village on the banks of Pennar river in Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh. Once upon a time Gandikota was thriving under the rule of Mikkilineni dynasty.

Today the fort and the ancient temples of that age are in ruins.

Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Jama Masjid, Madhavaraya Temple, Gandikota Fort View Point, etc. are some of the places to see here.

The hill station of Amboli is an'Eco hot-spot' and is known for getting high rainfall. It is situated in Sindhudurg and is near to Santanwadi in Maharashtra.

Amboli's main attractions are its waterfalls and Hiranyakeshwar (Shiva) temple.

A visit here will take you away from the noise of Diwali crackers.

Chirruping of birds is a music to the ears; Thattekad Bird Sanctuary on the banks of the Periyar River is a famous attraction in Kerala.

It is also known as Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and is known for varieties of bird species.

The sanctuary also has varieties of Cuckoos, which gives it the name as 'Cuckoo Paradise'.

So visit Thattekad to escape from Diwali, to hear the melodies of birds.
