Based on the behavioural pattern of the sloth bear, the preservation and conservation techniques are chalked out at the sanctuary. The forest is also a suitable habitat for several faunal species like Nilgai, Leopard, Porcupine, Striped Hyena, Four-horned antelope, a variety of birds and reptiles. Sun temple or Surya Mandir is located in Modhera on the banks of the river Pushpawati. It is about 90 km from Palanpur. The temple was built in 1026 by the Solanki King Bhimdev. It is built in the Chaulukya style. The temple is a reminiscence of Konark Sun temple in Orissa. The brilliant architecture and intricately carved pillars and exteriors are the highlights of the temple. It is a protected monument that is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Modhera dance festival is a popular festival that is held at the temple every year.
