Tarkarli Beach

Tarkarli is one of the offbeat tourist places in Maharashtra. Being a coral beach, it also is known for its clear waters and long coastline. It is said that on a clear day you can see the water bed up to 20ft below sea level. Tarkarli is located at the confluence of Kali river and the Arabian Sea. Another beautiful thing to be experienced here is the sight of dolphins. Some tourist attractions here include the Mahapurush Temple, Vitthal Temple, Nivti Beach, Golden Rock and Malvan Market amongst the rest.

Harihareshwar

Located in Raigad district in Maharashtra, Harihareshwar is one of the lesser known towns of the state. A peculiarity of the town is that the river Savitri enters Arabian Sea through this charming town. Lord Harihareshwar Temple here is believed to have been blessed by Lord Shiva, hence the place is often called as 'Dev Ghar' which means 'the house of God'.

Amboli

Amboli is a peaceful hill station located in the Sahyadri hill ranges of Western India. This pristine piece of land is known for its untouched beauty, though it is slowly getting developed and popular among tourists. Some of the places you can visit here include the Hiranyakeshi river, Hiranyakeshwar Shiva Temple and many waterfalls that make the place stunning. It is also said that there are 108 Shiva temples in that area, out of which many are yet to be discovered.

Nagaon Beach

Nagaon is a beach town located by the Arabian Sea, and is one of the offbeat destinations of the state of Maharashtra. The beach is known for its cleanliness and adventurous water sports that the beach offers. One of the popular stay option here is to stay at the cottages owned by the local people of the region.

Kaas Plateau

Kaas Plateau is another lesser known destination of Maharashtra. Also known as Kaas Pathar and Kas Sadas, the place is located around 25km from the city of Satara. This is a biodiversity hotspot that is worth a visit to treat your eyes to the various types of seasonal flowers and the varieties of butterflies that adorn the region. The region has around 850 varieties of flowering plants that include orchids, shrubs and carnivorous plants.
