Though, the legend talks about the ending of Kaliyuga (modern era), this shrine is popular as Kashi Vishwanth Temple in Uttarkashi. It is also one of the important Hindu religious places in Uttarakhand.

Uttarkashi means the 'Kashi of the north'; it is a town on the located on the banks of Bhagirathi river, one of the tributaries of Ganges. Interestingly, the town of Uttarkashi is also on the river basin like Varanasi.

Another interesting attraction of this temple is the Trishula. Yes, the 6 mtr high Trishula of Lord Shiva is an interesting sight here. It is strongly believed that Goddess Durga used this Trishula to kill a demon. Hence, this Trishula has lot of importance here.

How to Reach Uttarkashi
Uttarkashi is around 145km from Dehradun. It is connected through road from other places like Rishikesh, Dehradun, Chamba and so on.
By Road: Uttarkashi is connected by NH108 and is accessible through motorable roads. Several buses from places like Rishikesh, Tehri and Dehradun ply in this route.
There is no railway station in Uttarkashi.
