Chittorgarh Fort is located on the banks of Berach river, in Rajasthan. This fort is on a hilltop and is one of the most visited tourist spots in the state. It is also one of the largest fort complexes in India.

Largest Fort of India
Chittorgarh Fort is known to be the largest fort of India. It extends an area of 3km in length and a peripheral length of 13km, summing up to 700 acres of land.

Gates of Chittorgarh Fort
There are 7 gates to Chittorgarh Fort. They are Ram Pol, Lakshman Pol, Padal Pol, Ganesh Pol, Jorla PolBhairon Pol and Hanuman Pol. To reach the fort, you have to cross all these gates, and the main entrance of the fort is known as Surya Pol or Sun Gate.

Palaces Within the Fort
There are several palaces and other structures within the fort. These marvellous structures include Rani Padmini Palace, Rana Khumba Palace and Fateh Prakash Palace.

Temples in the Fort
There are many temples in the fort complex that include Kalika Mata Temple, Jain Temple, Ganesha Temple, Meerabai Temple, Sammidheshwara Temple, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple and Kumbha Shyam Temple. Al these temples are known for their intricate carvings and other works.

The Towers of the Fort
The two towers of the fort depict the glorious past of the Rajpur royals. These towers are named Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory) and Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame).

Shape of the Fort
This large fort complex is roughly shaped like a fish when viewed at a bird's eye view.

Chittorgarh Fort is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites under Hill Forts of Rajasthan.

The fort is also known by several other names as Chittaurgarh, Chittaur, Chittor, Chitorgarh and Chitaurgarh.
