Yes, such a place does exist. It is a small yet beautiful hill station in Kerala known as Nelliyampathy.

Nelliyampathy is famous for its elegant fauna and green dense forests which are home to deer, porcupine, elephants, monkeys and many others. It is full of spell bounding serene spots, it a heady mix that is sure to please all the tourists to this beautiful land.

By Air: The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which at a distance of 120 km. The airport is well-connected to major cities in the country as well as abroad.

By Train: The nearest railhead is the Palakkad Junction, which is at a distance of 54 km. The railhead is well connected to all the major cities across India some of which are Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

By Road: Nelliyampathy is also well connected by roads. The driving distance from Bengaluru is approximately 466 km, 108 km from Coimbatore and 76 km from Thrissur.

1. Pothundi Reservoir

Built in the 19th century, Pothundi Reservoir was mainly built for irrigation purposes and is one of the main sources of drinking water in the area. It is constructed on the Meenchadypuzha and Padipuzha which are the tributaries of the River Ayalar and is known for the pleasing and tranquil place.

Located in the Western Ghats, the hill is a destination for visitors who would love to walk through the beautiful tea, coffee, orange and cardamom plantations. The hill offers you a breathtaking view of Palakkad and its surrounding areas.

At an elevation of 1500 m above sea level, Padagiri also known as Nellikota, is one of the tallest peaks of in Nelliyampathy. The hillock is bounded with teak plantations and is a very popular picnic spot.

Seetharkundu gets it name from Sita; it is said that Rama along with Sita and Lakshman rested at this place when they were in exile. The Seetharkundu Waterfall is a major attraction and is known for its rapidly falling water from a height of approximately 98 ft.

The Palagapandi Estate is one of the most popular attractions in the town. The estate houses a beautiful old bungalow which was built by the British. The estate is covered with plantations of coffee, tea and cardamom.

6. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in the Sahyadris, Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is the abode of a huge variety wild animals and birds. It is also home to various aquatic animals which include the mugger crocodile. The Nilgiri langurs, lion-tailed macaques, king cobras, tigers are a common sight in the sanctuary.
