Roopkund Lake, Uttarakhand
Known for being an excellent trekking and hiking destination, Roopkund Lake is one of the most visited frozen lakes in India. It is at 15000 ft above sea level. Located amid the snow-clad Himalayas, clear blue sky, and virgin forests, this fascinating frozen lake was discovered by a wandering British soldier in 1942. And the lake was then believed to be filled with skeletons. Therefore, it is also addressed as Skeletons Lake and Mystery Lake. Pangong Lake, Ladakh
Pangong lake is 130 Km long and 7 Km wide. It is located 160 km away from Leh Ladakh. The image it reflects from the crystal transparent sheet of ice stretching 7 Km is worth a million bucks. Apart from the splendid landscape, lake, and snowcapped mountains, it also boasts many migratory birds that travel from across continents to be a part of the exhibit. Cholamu Lake, Sikkim

It is the highest freshwater lake in India and the 14th highest in the world. As it is close to the Tibetian border, under the perimeter of the Indian army, a visit to the lake requires permission from the military and Sikkim police.
