The stunning palaces, majestic forts, camel rides and the expanses of deserts, Rajasthan is the single word we can give to these marvellous attractions in India where you can live the life of a King!

Almost all the forts here were built centuries ago, yet stand tall and proud flaunting the rich heritage and the royal charm of Rajasthan.

Achalgarh Fort

Achalgarh Fort

Achalgarh Fort is one of the medieval monuments in India. Located around 10km to the North of Mount Abu, this hill fort is one that is not to be missed. One of the main attractions here is Achaleshwar Mahadev temple, which is just outside the fort. Lord Shiva's toe is being worshipped here. The famous idol of Nandi here is said to have been made of 5 metals - gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc.

Bhangarh Fort is one of the most haunted places in India. The fort is located on the border of Sariska Reserve, on the Aravali hill range in Alwar district. A sign board is placed around a kilometre away from the fort by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) that reads "Entering the borders of Bhangarh before sunrise and after sunset is strictly prohibited. Legal action would be taken against anybody who does not follow these instructions."

Being 1700 years old, Bhatner Fort in Rajasthan is one of the oldest forts in India. This brick fort is believed to have been built by King Bhupat, who took shelter in a jungle after losing a battle to the King of Ghazni. The castle was built for King Bhupat. The fort is built isn't the shape of a parallelogram, with a dozen of bastions on each side of the structure.

Located around 32km from Bharatpur, Deeg Palace is a fort palace worth exploring. History has it that the fort around the palace was built later s the palace faced a lot of attacks due to its proximity to Agra. The fort wall was built to keep away raiders.

The palace is known by its impressive structures like Gopal Bhawan, Suraj Bhawan, Kishan Bhawan, Hardev Bhawan and Keshav Bhawan. The palace is open from 9am to 5pm on all days except Fridays.

Junagarh fort is a major fort in the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan. The fort is a unique illustration of composite culture.
