The History And Location Of Chinnamasta Temple

Chinnamasta Temple is located in a small town named Rajrappa in the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand and is a popular pilgrimage centre in the region. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chinnamasta, the headless deity who is a form of Goddess Durga, and is one of the Shakti Peeth temples in the country.

As per local legends, the temple is said to have been built thousands of years ago and is known for Goddess Chinnamasta who is shown as a self-decapitated nude goddess standing on Kamdeo, the god of love, and Rati, the goddess of love, as they make love in a lotus bed.

Blood is gushing out of her neck which is eventually, drunk by her head and the companions named, Jaya and Vijaya. The temple is also popular for its tantric style of architecture.

By Air: The nearest airport from Chinnamasta Temple is located in Ranchi at a distance of about 70 km. Once you have reached Ranchi, you can either hire a cab or catch a bus to Rajrappa, where the temple is located.

By Rail: The best way to reach Rajrappa by rail is to take a direct train to Ramgarh railway station which is located at a distance of about 28 km from the temple. From the station, you can hire a direct bus or a direct cab to Rajrappa.

By Road: The region of Chinnamasta Temple has a good road system and hence, it can be approached easily by road.
