By Air: If you are travelling to Chennai by air, then you can take a cab from the airport to Kodaikanal. You can also take a flight to Madurai and then from there take a bus or cab to Kodaikanal.

By Rail: Kodaikanal is well connected to Chennai and other major towns by rail. You can catch a train from Chennai station to Kodaikanal. It will take you an approximate time of 10 hours.

By Road: Situated at a distance of about 530 km, Kodaikanal is easily accessible by road from Chennai and other major cities. You can either take a cab from Chennai to Kodaikanal or catch a bus directly from Chennai to Kodaikanal.

If you are commuting on your own, you can take the following routes.

Route 1: Chennai - Chengalpattu - Villupuram - Dindigul - Kodaikanal

Route 2: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Dharmapuri - Namakkal - Kodaikanal

However, route 1 is fastest and more interesting and hence, preferable. If you are looking to explore some new places and reach your destination within minimum time while on your way to Kodaikanal, then you must take route 1.
