How to Reach

How to Reach

Depending on where you are located, there are flights from almost major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar to Port Blair, which is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar and the only entry/exit point. The Tsunami of 2004 led to heavy losses to both the places but the tourist operations are up and running again.

Havelock Island

Havelock Island is the most visited island in the Andaman and Nicobar Island stretch. Known for its beautiful beaches, Havelock also indulges it's tourists in other activities like scuba Diving, snorkeling and more.

Rutland Island

Rutland Island

Rutland Island is spotless, unpopulated and the least visited island. The island has a beautiful mangrove forest and coral reefs. It is a perfect place for eco-tourists.

Neil Island

The long deserted beaches of Neil Island give off a relaxing vibe. One can laze under the sun sipping on a mocktail or try out a few water activities like snorkeling, swimming, sea walking and more.

Wandoor

Wandoor

A lazy man's paradise where one can soak in the sun and see time go by. The long stretch of beaches here are a perfect spot to get some tan. One can also head to the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park if they are in for adventure.

Baratang Island

Baratang Island

A conducted tour of this island is advisable. Baratang is known for its mud volcano, limestone caves, mangrove creeks and most importantly the Jarwah tribe. Untouched by civilisation, the jarwahs still lead a primitive way of life and it is forbidden to interact with them or even offer food to them. Jarwahs in their turn keep their interactions to the minimum. Parrot island is another must-see attraction but for that you will need to stay overnight on the island.

Barren Island

Barren Island

Just as the name suggests the island is barren and uninhabited by humans. Birds and rodents are the only species of animals found here. The island is the only active volcanic island in South Asia and last erupted in 2010 and continued till 2011.

Long Island

Long Island

A trip here would make one remember the story of Robinson Crusoe. One is far away from civilization here. It is advisable that when coming here one carries food, water and gear for themselves.

Little Andaman

Little Andaman

This tiny island was the hub of surfing till the tsunami struck here in 2004. The island has a few beaches, a waterfall and lots of friendly locals who will make sure you do have a good time here.

Jolly Buoy Island

Jolly Buoy Island

A jetty ride from Wandoor takes one to Jolly Buoy island where one can go snorkeling, sea walking and more. The small beach, clear waters and the diverse marine life here makes the place very scenic.

Activities

One of the best things to do in all the islands is to relax and enjoy the sun. Get some tan and sip on mocktails. Then there are also other activities one can indulge in here, snorkeling by far is the common one in nearly all islands, one can go sea walking or surfing also. Scuba diving is also quite a favorite here.

Food

Food

Seafood should be your choice here anyday. One can get it grilled, fried, broiled, curried or in any other cooked form. One can keep gorging on a variety of fishes in variety of dishes here and still come back with lots more left to taste. Standard Indian food is also served here at restaurants and hotels but if you ask anyone here then the pick certainly goes for the mouth watering seafood dishes.
