Beaches Of Goa And What You Can Get Out Of Them

You don’t need a reason or a season to visit Goa. This summer head to Goa and explore the popular as well as the offbeat beaches of Goa.

There is Goa and then there is the rest of the country. Goa is that lively, energetic and dynamic part of the country that people dream of spending vacations at. If Madhya Pradesh is an old mad then Goa will be your loud teenager - no inhibitions, no hesitation, just living life as it comes. It is an ideal place for bachelors and spinsters to celebrate their freedom and an idyllic place to leisure with family. There is something for everyone in Goa.

Despite the markets and bustling crowd, Goa is majorly popular for its beaches. And every beach of Goa comes with its own charm and personality. Some are loud, noisy and some are peaceful, serene. Here is a list of the top beaches in Goa and the things you can get out of them.

Anjuna Beach

As you head out to explore the beaches of Goa, Anjuna will be the first one to catch your attention. It used to be a hit amongst the hippies but now it has mellowed down since it is commercialised. But still, it has something that other beaches cannot offer - Curlies, a lazy two-floored restaurant that runs at its own pace.

If you fancy a place overlooking a beach with a perfect menu on the table, Curlies is your place. Besides that, it also has a pool table and outdoor floor seating, if you fancy that sort of thing. Apart from Curlies, there are many small beachside shacks that you can lounge at. You can also play a match of beach volleyball with the locals here and pet some street dogs.

All in all, if you crave a place where life is calm, composed and relaxing, head to Anjuna.

Arambol Beach

Next on the list is Arambol, which is a traditional fisherman's village. It's the northmost beach in Goa and is fancied by many locals as well as foreigners. Besides cheap beach huts, Arambol offers an eclectic mix of culture. If you move further up Arambol, you may end up finding the banyan tree forest and a small pond near the beach, surrounded by a row of coconut trees.

Arambol is calmer than most other beaches in Goa. It is mostly empty and lifeless from March to August but as September starts, there come the folk to reopen their shops and welcome a world of tourists.

Vagator Beach

It's a rocky beach in Goa. It's near Chapora Fort. So if you long for a day-expedition that involves exploring a century-old castle, Chapora Fort should be on your list. It is bustling during the tourist season but calms down as mid-summer approaches.

The best part of Vagator is its black-sand beach. You can even trek from Chapora Fort to the end of the beach. The trail of this trek is beautiful and you're destined to have a good time with your friends here. The trail also comes in handy for selfies as it offers one of the best backgrounds.

Baga Beach

By far the most commercialised and chaotic of all the beaches in Goa, but it has something that no other beach can offer - the ever-active nightlife. The long, narrow lane of Baga that leads to the beach is home to one of the most popular nightclubs in the city. From Titos to Mambos, you'll get ample of free shots here - if you're a girl.

During the season, the entire street is full of people from all around the world, watching people on the scooters as they scoot by. It also has some of the most terrific food menus and live music. The outdoor seating is rather cosy and you will meet some of the most entertaining people here.

Palolem Beach

It is the southmost beach of Goa. If you want to run away from the chaotic noisy life of North Goa, you can count on Palolem to entertain you. Palolem is a secluded less-ventured beach. You'll mostly find small foreign families here, on their summer vacation. The beach is quiet and you will have ample of time to explore the shore without getting bothered by any vendors.

There are a few restaurants here but they shut down around 10.00 pm as opposed to North Goa, where the cafes are open until dawn. You can find beautiful cottages right next to the beach here. The price could be a bit expensive but with a view so scenic, you definitely want to invest your money and time here.

Candolim Beach

Candolim is like an orphaned child. It is beautiful and has its own flavour but is, yet, neglected by so many people. Candolim is quite close to the capital city of Panaji and if you want to explore more of the South Goa and the beaches of North Goa, staying at Candolim will do you good.

Candolim is right in the centre so it is easier for anyone to just hop on a scooter and explore the state. The Aguada Fort is quite close to Candolim and you can take some beautiful photographers over here.
