Barsana Gram is a captivating and divine village located 40 km away from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. It is significant for being the birthplace of Lord Krishna's beloved gopi, Shri Radha. Barsana is also known as Vrishabhanupur and is a popular pilgrimage place among Hindus.
The village is situated around two hills adjacent to each other, referred to as Brahma Hill and Vishnu Hill. These hills have four peaks, namely Bhanugarh, Maangarh, Daangarh and Vilasgarh; these peaks are believed to be the heads of Lord Brahma. Except for Vilasgarh, the rest lie on Brahma Hill.
Each peak on Brahma Hill has a temple famous for being important pastime places of Lord Krishna and Radha. Barsana is famous for the celebration of the Holi festival. It is celebrated between the residents of Nandgaon (village nearby) and Barsana, and the festival is known as Lathmaar Holi.
How To Get There?
By Air: There are two air routes available:
Agra airport is 102 km, approximately, away from Barsana.
International airport at Delhi, which is connected to almost every important city in the world with major airlines and is around 111 km away from Barsana.
By Train: Nearest railway station to Barsana is Kosi Kalan at a distance of 10 km. However, Mathura at a distance of 50 km is where several superfast trains stop by. Kosi Kalan and Mathura are on broad gauge railway line of North Central railways.
By Road: Barsana is well connected by road to Delhi, Agra and Mathura by buses of UPSRTC and several private bus operators. Barsana can be reached from any of the regional villages by road. UPSRTC buses, auto rickshaws, metered taxis, cabs and jeeps are available to commute.

Shriji Temple
Shriji Temple, also known as Ladli Lal (beloved one) temple, is situated on Bhanugarh. It is one of the oldest temples in Barsana which is approximated to be built 5000 years ago. The temple has beautiful arches and domes and is known for its remarkable stonework. It was built under the reign of Emperor Akbar, therefore reflecting the architecture of the Mughal Era.
Radha Kushal Bihari Temple
The beautiful temple of Kushal Bihari was built by a Rajput king who was an ardent devotee of Radha-Krishna. The sculpture inside the temple is carved out of sandstone having slinky and beautiful designs. A graceful and lovely idol of Shri Radha is placed at the centre of the premises. It is also the only temple dedicated to Radha.

Maan Mandir
Maan Mandir is situated on the hill top of Maangarh. It is said to be the place where Radha would go into seclusion when displeased. The temple has a small tunnel leading to a dark chamber, which is believed to be the place, unhappy Radha went to. Mor Kutir (literally translates to "peacock cottage") which is situated at the foot of Maangarh, is the place where Krishna danced in the form of peacock and peahen to please her.

Sankaari Khor
Sankaari Khor (Sankaari-narrow; Khor- sacred place) is the narrow passage between the two hills. The passage is said to be the place where Lord Krishna and his friends dressed as tax collectors to tease Radha and other gopis, demanding ghee, butter or yoghurt.
Prem Sarovar
Prem Sarovar is a pond situated on the road to Nandgaon, one mile from Barsana. It is shaped like a boat and is beautifully decorated on all sides with lush kadamb trees. It is believed that love itself has manifested as a pond. Pili Pokhara, also known as Priya Kund is another pond, which is believed to have turned yellow just with the touch of Radha's hands.
