Here's something exciting for all the winter lovers out there! In order to promote tourism of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly during the winter, the tourism department of Jammu & Kashmir has arranged a new campaign called Valley Weekend.
The event will have sports and entertaining activities going on all through winter. Sports will include competitions like fishing, cycling, marathons, snowshoe running, etc., while other activities will include folk music of J&K, theatrical performances, rock music concerts and more.
Another addition to these activities will be food trucks and carts of J&K's heritage. This attempt to promote tourism has apparently received a lot of positive response from across the world. The event is said to begin this weekend and will go on till the end of winter.
Since Pahalgam has mostly become a summer destination for tourists, the tourism department wants to promote it as a winter spot for more than just skiing in the snow (according to a Kashmir-based news article).

Ride On A Shikara At Dal Lake
Srinagar's glittering Dal Lake, one of the most sought-after tourist spots, is home to a special kind of water ride called shikara. Take a ride through the blissful Dal Lake in a shikara and observe the beauty of the mighty snow-capped mountains that surround the city.
You can also observe the floating flowers and vegetable market that comes alive at dawn, around 4.30-5.30 am. Apart from a ride on the shikara, you can even rent a houseboat and live on the beautiful Dal Lake for a few days.
