Tipu Triangle: 3 Major Architectures By Tipu Sultan

In the modern world, monarchy doesn't hold much importance, but in some countries monarchy is still practised. Today we only get to read or hear about the great rulers who ruled our regions. India's history is filled with several kingdoms and their about the glorious time. Such are the tales of Tipu Sultan, one of the most famous Sultans of the Mysore Kingdom . A brave warrior and a ruler who was known for his battles against the British. Many historic places relating to the time of Tipu Sultan can be found in different parts of Karnataka. However, there are a few architectures commissioned by Tipu Sultan that remain in a good state.

Let us traverse around three main structures that were built by Tipu Sultan

Dariya Daulat Bagh

Dariya Daulat Bagh served as a summer palace amidst the lush green garden in Srirangapatna. Even today the ambience of that royal past engulfs around this small yet beautiful structure. It was built in 1984 from where Tipu ruled Mysore for some time. A long windy road dotted with tall trees on either side takes you to the large gate of Dariya Daulat Bagh.

A distant view of the palace can be seen from the entrance. As you go inside, you will be welcomed by a sprawling garden and a long path which reaches the palace. Dariya Daulat Bagh is now turned into a museum which displays the furniture, paintings, clothing and several pictures belonging to the Tipu and his family.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace

Which city other than Bengaluru could have served as a summer resort for Tipu? Attached to the Bangalore Fort, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace forms one of the prominent tourist places in Bengaluru. It is situated near Kalasipalyam bus stand in the part of Old Bangalore. The Indo-Islamic Architecture of this palace is just beautiful.

Jamalabad Fort

Jamalabad Fort is a hill fort which was built by Tipu Sultan in 1794. This fortress is located in the Kudremukha Hill Ranges in Belthangady, Dakshina Kannada. Constructed over the ruins of the older structure, Jamalabad Fort is named after Tipu Sultan's mother, Jamalabee. Fort is a trekking spot but not much of the structure remains today.
