A complex of three Jain temples, Arang Jain temples were established in the 9th century during the time of Haihaivanshi kingdom. However, there are also a few monuments at Arang which date back to the 11th century.

As per the archaeological finds, it is believed that Arang was a major religious and learning centre for Hindus and Jains during the 9th century and all the monuments were commissioned by Hindu kings with the help of Jain monks.

Bhand Dewal Temple is a five-storey temple and is adorned with detailed carvings on the walls. It is certainly a masterpiece considering the fine work of architecture in the form of plastered towers, star-shaped layouts and carved images.

Bagh Deval Temple, on another hand, resembles the architecture of Khajuraho Temple and is dated back to the 11th century. Mahamaya Temple houses three large images of Jain tirthankaras. Today, all these monuments are under the care of the Archaeological Survey of India.
