By Air: Pondicherry Airport is the nearest airport from Pichavaram at a distance of around 75 km. Once you have reached the airport, you can either hire a cab directly to Pichavaram or you can take a bus to Chidambaram and then from there, a cab to Pichavaram.

By Rail: The nearest railway station from Pichavaram is located at Chidambaram at a distance of about 20 km. However, you will need a boat from the last road near Pichavaram to reach its mangrove forest.

By Road: Pichavaram is well connected to nearby cities and towns by road. However, there are certain areas of its mangrove forest and other islands which can only be accessed by boats and ferries.
