Located atop a gigantic hill, Jamalabad Fort was built by Tipu Sultan in 1794 in the loving memory of her mother, Jamalabee. It is said that Tipu Sultan was highly impressed by the beauty and strength of the rockhill and its surroundings, thereby, compelling him to build a fort within its boundaries. You can reach the fort by stepping over 1876 steps which were cut out from the granite hill. Even though the fort is in deteriorating condition today, there are still several remains of the fort which can be explored.

Jamalabad Fort has a small tank and the remains of a cannon inside it which still attract tourists and travellers towards it. In 1799, after the 4th Mysore war, this beautiful fort was captured by the British Army. Today, you can only find the ruined structure of Jamalabad Fort.
