Travel to the Top 10 Adventure Tourism Destinations in India

There is so much of diversity across India that it is not surprising it has a major scope for many adventure sports. Tourists, usually, travel around the country to explore its various attractions or for religious pilgrimages. But there are just a few who actually hunt down the places where they can indulge in adventure sports activities.

The reason as to why many tourists don't look into this sector is because most of them are ill-informed or are ignorant about it. While much is written about the temples and historical monuments of the country, we are happy to present a list of top 10 adventure destinations in India.

1. Ladakh

One of the picturesque places in India is the town of Ladakh, which finds itself in every traveller's itinerary. Tourists go there to be lost amidst the beauty of nature and also visit the many Buddhist monasteries. A lesser known fact though is that the best way to explore this scenic destination is by cycling. It is almost refreshing when the cold wind brushes past your face, and you have a seemingly endless road ahead. So the next time you visit this place, ditch your cars and jeep and hop onto a cycle and enjoy the ride around Ladakh.

2. Stok Kangri

Located close to Ladakh is the region of Stok Kangri, another picturesque attraction. Tourists visiting this place are mesmerised by the beauty around them. But do you know the true beauty of the region is best-seen from the air? If you did not, then the next time you visit do go paragliding here and let the aerial view of this region blow your mind.

3. Sikkim

The northeast parts of India are ventured by few tourists as it is less explored and not many know about the attractions present here. Though Sikkim is a tourist hub, travellers enjoy themselves by visiting the many attractions or soaking in its natural beauty. But if you have adventure on your mind then this is the place to be. The many surrounding hills make it a perfect place to go mountain biking. It is an ideal spot for adrenaline junkies who need a new challenge at every turn!

4. Bir

Bir is a famous vacation spot among tourists who head here to spend quality time with their families and friends. The serenity of the place is absolutely rejuvenating. But more attractive than the natural beauty is the possibility of going paragliding here. So for all the sports fanatics out there, do head to Bir and enjoy the breathtaking adventure sport of paragliding.

5. West Bengal

West Bengal is known for its many monuments and temples and also its rich cultural history. Travellers coming here are completely mesmerised by the heritage and traditions of this state. But not many are aware that you can go cycling in various parts here, especially in the hill stations. So those looking for some adventure, do head to the hilly terrains of West Bengal and enjoy the adrenaline rush that only mountain biking can provide.

6. Andaman Islands

Tired of all the cycling and paragliding options? Looking for a water sport that will get you going? Then head to the beautiful Andaman Islands and indulge in scuba diving. Go into the depths of the ocean and see the marine life swim past you. The isles are a perfect place to rejuvenate as well as entertain yourself.

7. Kamshet, Maharashtra

One of the lesser known travel destinations among tourists is the small town of Kamshet in Maharastra. But those who visit this place are completely smitten by its beautiful weather and scenery. It also is a great place to go paragliding and enjoy the beauty of the region from the air.

8. Rishikesh

Now this one is certainly a surprise. Rishikesh is considered to be a place of religion but who would have ever thought this place is also the adventure capital of the country!? Well are unsure whom to thank, but sure glad at the availability of many sports such as white water rafting. So when you visit here do ensure that you go river rafting and camping besides the spiritual journey.

9. Netrani

It is wonderful to dive into the blue waters of the sea and be one with the marine life. Netrani in Karnataka is exactly the place to head to for this beautiful experience. You can go scuba diving here and enjoy the marine life all around you.

10. Lakshadweep Islands

If you intend to take water sports to the extreme well then the suggested place for that would be the Lakshwadeep Islands where you can go kayaking in the waters. It is one of the most wonderful activities here, but be warned not to head out too far, as the waters are filled with sharks and you seriously don't want to mess with them!
