Located at an elevation of 1219 m, this place is popularly known as the Gateway to Naini Lake in Nainital. Nestled in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Jeolikot offers a stunning view of the mountains in the surrounding and is a perfect place for all birdwatchers. It can also serve as a very good place for butterfly catchers and horticulture. During this time, it is pretty cold in Uttarakhand as the temperature ranges from 5 degrees Celsius to 10 degree Celsius. So, the summers are the best time for sightseeing in Jeolikot.

By Air: Located at a distance of 56 km, Pantnagar is the nearest airport to Jeolikot. Tourists can hire taxis or cabs from the airport to reach Jeolikot.

By Train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Jeolikot. From the railway station, tourists can hire taxis and reach Jeolikot in about half an hour.

By Road: Jeolikot is well connected by roadways with almost all the major Indian cities. From Nainital, it will take half an hour to reach Jeolikot by road. Apart from cabs, regular buses are also available from Delhi and Nainital to Jeolikot.

It is said that this sanctuary has nearly 580 different species of birds. Apart from birdwatching, tourists can also enjoy the beautiful landscape and natural setting at the sanctuary.

The place derives its name from a temple called Mukteshwar Dham, which is 350 years old. The temple is situated on the top of a mountain and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tourists can catch a glimpse of the marvellous Himalayan ranges from the top of this mountain.
