A Virtual Tour Into The Six Senses Resort - Fort Barwara

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are set to solemnise their wedding in Six Senses resort - Fort Barwara, Rajasthan

Bollywood heartthrobs Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are set to solemnize their wedding, reportedly in Rajasthan - starting with a Sangeet ceremony on 7 December and the couple have selected a Six Senses resort - Fort Barwara as their venue for the momentous day.

So, let's take a virtual tour into the resort, to know why the destination is making the rounds as the prime wedding venue among the A-listers.

After well over two years of pandemic-related restrictions, a deep-dive into one of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas' multi-award-winning venues in Rajasthan, might be the booster we need.

Every Six Senses outpost is rooted in its location and Six Senses Fort Barwara, a three-hour drive from Jaipur airport, brings Rajasthani inspiration to everything from décor to dinner. Expect Shekhawati art on the walls, dining in the former observation tower, and wellness therapies with a signature range of blended indigenous essential oils, muds and clays.

The 14th-century Fort Barwara has been transformed into a 48-suite resort managed by Six Senses, and restored in tandem with the Espire Group and Prithviraj Singh, grandson of Raja Man Singh of Barwara. The architectural design was overseen by Ahmedabad-based firm Panika (whose heritage projects include The Oberoi Udaivilas).

Each of the 48 suites draws on Rajasthani design from latticework to embroidered furnishings for a tranquil setting. Pick the terrace suites for a rooftop hot tub. Several suites come with panoramic views of the lake, the hilltop Chauth ka Barwara temple and the Aravali range, with the king's share at the Raja Man Singh suite, which includes a garden with a pool and dining pavilion, and dedicated service hosts. Families will appreciate the complimentary baby cot, and the kids club.

You don't have to be a wellness junkie to tap into some personal healing. The 30,000sqft Six Senses Spa and fitness centre is situated within the former women's palace and two temples. You can hit the crossfit outdoor circuit, blend scrubs and masks at the alchemy bar or spend time in the hydrotherapy area. There are a roster of wellness programmes for everyone, whether you crave a yoga weekend or just a good night's sleep.

For better slumber, pick from a plan for 3, 5 or 7 nights: a sleep tracker will help you understand your sleep patterns alongside advice on rest and nutrition, and the calming influence of yoga nidra and shirodhara. Or try the day-long spa takeover pegged as an immunity reboot, which includes breathwork and yoga, a microgreen workshop, massage and sleep tracking. The detox plan of 3, 5 or 7 nights is a non-invasive yogic cleanse that works to support digestion and immunity, and clear the mind. Plus Ayurvedic rejuvenation, a day of reflection to ease the heart, and another to stimulate the mind.

Sustainability is at the core of the Six Senses philosophy-visit the resort's Earth Lab for a primer on its efforts from bottling water to waste management, energy efficiency and social commitment-and it's also at the table. Produce from the organic garden and nearby farms fuel the Rajasthani-inspired cuisine at the two restaurants.

The fort offers ample nooks for private dining under a starry sky, and there's the Barwara Royal Ballroom for larger gatherings. Join a heritage walk, cooking class or the resort's daily safaris to Ranthambore National Park, a 30-minute drive away, followed by cocktails in the lounge or poolside barbecue. There are, indeed, many safe ways to make memories after all that time shut-in.
