While you're at the beach, you can visit the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary which is located at a walkable distance from here. Go to the Kadalundi bridge from where you can witness magnificent, seasonal birds of the sanctuary.

Kochi, the city steeped with rich culture, tradition and places of historical importance, is famous for the Marine Drive.Cherai Beach is a relatively lesser-known place that is located about 30 km from Ernakulam city and is also close to Vypeen island.

The beach offers a fantastic view of the Chinese fishing nets from a distance. Cherai is safe for swimming and thus, is a swimmer’s haven. If you’re lucky enough, you may even spot a few dolphins in the water.

Visit the Ayyappa temple that is located on the hilltop of Chowara, at a height that overlooks the beautiful beach. The temple is usually crowded during the 56-day festival that usually takes place between November to January.

Situated at a distance of 58 km from Thiruvananthapuram, Kappil Beach is a mesmerising beach in Varkala that is one of the capital city’s favourite secluded getaways. Here, boating facilities are available from places nearby.

Indulge in sunbathing, boating, swimming and even dolphin spotting—at times—at this beach. You can visit the Bekal Fort which can be reached through a small auto ride.
