Tarapith Attractions - Tourist Places To Visit In Tarapith

Known as the birthplace of Nityananda Swami, who is widely acclaimed as one of the proponents of the Baisnav religion, this temple is known for its typical hexagonal shape. It is over 300 years old and attracts pilgrims by the thousands every year. It is close to an ISCKON temple and is around 10 km from Tarapith city centre. The temple is over 300 years old.  

This is one of the oldest temples in the district and was surrounded by thick forests long ago. The temple is flanked by another 21 temples and is 12 km from Tarapith. It attracts thousands of tourists every year.

Located in Nalhati town in Birbhum district, West Bengal, Nalhateshwari Temple was built where Sati’s throat - nala - is believed to have fallen. The Nalhati town, which is just a few kilometres from Tarapith, is named after the temple.

Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth worshipped by many Hindus in India. This temple was built by Kamdev Bramacharya, based on a dream that featured a neem tree attached to a lotus flower and Goddess Lakshmi herself; this temple is around 500 years old and is around 12 km from Tarapith.

Dating back to the 17th century, this group of temples comprised of more than 100 structures. Today, just over 50 of these are intact and are unfortunately getting worse because of shoddy maintenance. Hopes are that this group of beautiful temples will soon become a World Heritage protected site.
