South Garo Hills Weather

The best season to visit South Garo Hills is the winters. During the winters, it is very cool and dry here. It is the best time to travel to the undisturbed locations of the district. However, it is advisable that tourists carry light woollens while travelling to the South Garo Hills.  

Summer

Summer sets in by the month of April and lasts till the end of June. These three months are extremely hot in the district with the highest temperature reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius. However, normally the temperature stays around 24 degrees Celsius. Adequate precaution from the heat is a must.  

Monsoon

The prime monsoon months are July, August and September. However, it rains for several months in the South Garo Hills. Torrential rains during the monsoons causes flood and communication is heavily affected at such times. It is not the best time to travel to South Garo Hills.  

Winter

Winters are moderate in South Garo Hills, especially in Baghmara. The maximum temperature recorded during the winters is 25 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is 7 degrees Celsius. The winter sets in by October and lasts till the beginning of February. It is a good time to visit the district.
