    Gavi Gangadeshwara Cave Temple

    Gavi Gangadeshwara Cave Temple, dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva, was constructed by Kempe Gowda, considered to be the founder of Bangalore. The temple enshrines a rare idol of the Hindu god of fire, Agni, along with 33 other idols. This unique cave, naturally carved out of a monolith, is popular for its structural design which incorporates a blend of Vastukala and astrology.

    On the day of the annual Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti, the sun's rays enter the temple between the horns of the idol of Nandi, the bull considered as the vehicle of Shiva, and illuminate the idol of Shiva. Devotees flock to the temple during this time to witness this extraordinary event. Visitors can enter the temple anytime between 7 am to 12:30 pm and 5 pm to 8:30 pm.

    Honnadevi Temple

    Honnadevi Temple, situated in Shivgange, is dedicated to Honnadevi, the consort of the Hindu deity of destruction, Shiva. Honnadevi is also generally known as Swarnamba. The temple is considered to be around 300 years old. Shantala, a queen of the Hoysala Dynasty, was an ardent devotee of Goddess Honnadevi.

    The Goddess is considered as the village Goddess of Shivgange and every year in April, a grand festival is celebrated here. People from the surrounding seven villages participate in this grand festival, which goes on for more than seven days.

    Pathala Ganga

    Pathala Ganga is a fresh water spring that flows between two monoliths at Shivgange, at a distance of about 60 km from Bangalore. The term Pathala Ganga stands for 'underground water of the river Ganga'. It has been named so because the water flowing from the spring is believed to be the water of the Ganges which is considered to be extremely sacred by Hindus.

    The water level of this spring alters all through the day and according to a legend, the water flowing here is somehow connected to Anthargange situated in Kolar. The spring is considered to be just as sacred as the supposed source.
