Shillong / 2023 Weather

The best time to visit Shillong is right after the winters and the monsoons, that is, the months between March-April and September-October. While the post-winter months are not extremely chilly and it doesn’t rain that much, the post-monsoon months are sunny and perfect for sight-seeing. 

Summer

Shillong enjoys cool summer months with the maximum temperature reaching about 30 degrees Celsius. The summer seasons starts by the end of April and lasts till about mid-July. But tourists can expect heavy downpour during the summers too. It is advisable to carry light woollens during the summers too. 

Monsoon

The monsoon starts from the month of June and extends till September. However, tourists should not be surprised if they witness the much earlier or later as rain is a constant companion to the hill station. Keeping this in mind, it is always better to carry light woollens when travelling to Shillong.

Winter

Shillong sees severe winters with the temperature dropping down to as low as 1 degree Celsius. The early morning mist and fog formation during the day time are common sights during the winters. When the fog doesn’t descend, the sun shines warmly making the climate pleasant.
