Sanasar, the two villages of Sana and Sar, are considered as one of the most beautiful and scenic destinations in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. This site is a cup-shaped meadow that has derived its name from two small lakes, Sana and Sar that are situated 20 km west of Patnitop. Sanasar, popularly known as mini Gulmarg, lies at an elevation of 2079 m above sea level.

Adventure In Sanasar

The presence of plains and hilly terrain make Sanasar an ideal place for skiing, paragliding, camping, hot air ballooning, horse riding, trekking, abseiling and rock climbing. All the adventure-based activities in Sanasar are organised by Jammu & Kashmir Government authorities. Tourists interested in trekking can rent necessary equipment from the shops that have been established by the tourism department. Trekking gears are provided to the travellers against a security deposit.

Apart from undertaking adventure-based activities, tourists can explore popular attractions of the destination. Shank Pal Temple is a famous pilgrimage site that is dedicated to Nag Shank Pal. Ladoo Ladi, Shanta Gala and Surni Kund are the popular trekking trails in Sanasar. Travellers can enjoy quality time at the 9-hole golf course that has recently been developed in Sanasar by the tourism department.

If time permits, then tourists can explore Nag Temple, waterfalls and Hidden Creek that are located in proximity to the destination.

How to Reach Sanasar

  • By Road
    Tourists can reach Sanasar by roa, but no direct buses are available from cities like New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Manali and Shimla. Travellers first have to board direct bus for Jammu from the above mentioned cities. After reaching Jammu, tourists have to take another bus that will take them to their destination, Sanasar.

    Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest railhead from the destination. This railway junction is well connected to major cities in the country, namely Chennai, New Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai to name a few.
